HELLO MY FELLOW GOLFERS!!!
I am an admitted addict of this game. I love playing my faves, new courses, golf trips...you name it!
In Durham, there is something for everyone for golf. 18 hole courses, 9 hole courses and even a 12 hole course. Lifestyle homes living by a course or just make your way north, east or west to of any of our towns and cities to find an array of choices. Bonus for us being on the border of York Region, it's a quick drive to our north and west for even more. Lots to the east of us too but I will leave that for another day.
Some of my personal favorite 18 hole golf courses in Durham Region:
Glen Cedars Golf Course in Pickering (part of the Deer Creek family)
Deer Creek Golf & Banquet Facility. You can't go wrong with the Deer Creek family, always well cared for.
Oakridge Golf Club in Port Perry
Mill Run Golf Club in Uxbridge
Royal Ashburn Golf Club in Ashburn (Whitby)
Kedron Dells Golf Club in Oshawa is very popular and seem to have some good packages that attract golfers.
Columbus Golf & Country Club in Oshawa has become pretty popular the last few years. Value and condition. Nothing fancy though.
Whispering Ridge Golf Club in Whitby is associated with Lakeridge Links Golf Club. This course is close to my heart. It's an executive 18 and was really the first 18 hole course I played a lot when I started to golf. It's a gorgeous piece of land scattered with spruce trees. The back 9 is picturesque on a number of holes, you can see farmland and rolling hills. Stunning. It can get a bit too dry during a really hot summer. Cart paths can be so-so, but all worth it in my opinion.
Fave 18 hole courses in York Region:
MY TOP FAVE course that I play is Ballantrae Golf Club in Stouffville. This one is also very close to my heart. I don't know what it is about this course but I absolutely love it, could play it all the time. It's my happy place...calming somehow! Raised greens, pretty wide open, enough water and trees to make it interesting. Well groomed and great drainage so almost never cart path only! 3 words I hate to hear is CART PATH ONLY! I am cart girl!
Cardinal Golf Course in King. I personally like REDCREST out of their collection of courses.
Silver Lakes Golf Club in East Gwillimbury
9 hole courses I like in Durham:
Riverside Golf Course in Pickering Village (Ajax)
Pickering Golf Course in Pickering (previously Seaton Golf Course)
Stonehenge Golf Club in Bowmanville
Our 12 hole course in Pickering:
Bunker Hill Golf Club is a Par 3 course. Challenging though so I wouldn't dismiss it until you try it lol. If you do make your way there sometime, beware it's a bit of a drive on the winding road to get to the course...so you start to wonder if you are going in the right direction. Keep driving! Located off Hwy 7 between Audley & Salem on the north side.
Private Courses in Durham Region:
Wyndance Golf Club in Uxbridge (Platinum Club Link Membership) Love this course, it's built on an old gravel pit!
Cherry Downs is also a Clublink course located in Pickering. More semi private I would say as they have a number of packages and deals going on for public.
Whitevale Golf Course in Whitevale (Rural Pickering)
Oshawa Golf & Curling Club in Oshawa
Coppinwood Golf Club in Goodwood, Ontario (Rural Pickering)
Goodwood Golf Club in Cedar Valley https://golf.com/travel/canada-goodwood-golf-club-best-course-never-heard/
I added this link because I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS COURSE! I feel confident based on the article that I will never play this course. It's a ghost course! Damn!
Once in a while course to play:
Wooden Sticks Golf Club in Uxbridge. They usually have some kind of deal with swag or free stuff when you buy their passes online. They also offer cabins for out of towners. So does Royal Ashburn so keep that one in mind too. More of an event type course IMO!

Want to keep busy or keep on top of your game off season, we have simulators. Deer Creek, Mill Run and Carruthers Creek to name a few. We also have the DOME in Scarborough which is close by. https://www.metrogolfsportsplex.com/cart/
Winter Golf: 4seasons Golf in Claremont. Under normal circumstances, they offer their upper 9 holes for winter golf but it's too snowy and icy right now. Check back later in winter if you are interested.
